A family run business for over 3 1/2 decades

The Founder of the store the "late" Bud LeClaire opened shop in 1969. He ran it out of his basement of his home in Milford, MA. , selling just live bait. Over the coarse of 3 years he expanded into the fishing tackle, archery and the guns business. After relocating to Mill Pond in Upton, MA in 1973 the family run shop expanded to Water sports and accessories. Being right on the pond was a great asset.  While the small town was growing so was Fin & Feather Sports Of  Upton, MA . Buddy never gave up he earned his Business degree in 1977 and hired some full timers to help out. In 1978 we became the only Minn Kota Trolling motor authorized service center in Massachusetts. 1978 Bud was elected Massachusetts Bass Federation President. 1980 he then opened the local Bass Pro Shop outlet in the Fin & Feather. This was a great way to earn the bass fishermen's business. Business still on the rise in 1984 and the need for more room Bud and family built a huge addition aside the store. A 60 x 32 - 2 story modern building with a water sports show room on the upper level.  The doors opened May of 1986 an we became the areas biggest sports center, with over 400 firearms, 50 bows, 250 rods & reels, 2- 100 gallon bait tanks and over 100 canoes, kayaks and row boats in stock. Through the years we continue to grow. Bud had some health issues in late Summer of 1986. His older son Jeff, right out of high school stepped up and managed  the shop while Bud was recuperating. The competition was starting to get strong and it meant that Fin & Feather had to make some changes. 1991 turn the corner for the family, Both son's Graduated, Mark from High School and Jeff  from College and Management was turned over to them in December. Jeff and his wife purchased the store in 2001 the year Bud past away. We are growing stronger every year the early 2000's have been the best years yet. Thanks to all our loyal customers.
